What is Manuka Honey?
MÄnuka honey is a premium product thatās growing steadily as a high-value export for New Zealand. It is a monofloral honey that comes from the nectar of the flower of the MÄnuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium) which is indigenous to New Zealand.
It is the nectar and the bee that gives this honey its unique properties. It is the nectar of the New Zealand MÄnuka flower that contributes the unique natural ingredients to MÄnuka honey that make it so different to other honeys.
What is UMF?
The UMFĀ® (Unique Manuka Factor) trademark was established by the Unique Manuka Factor Honey Association (UMFHA). The UMFĀ® grading system appraises natural markers found in Manuka Honey, and assures purity & quality.
This is compliant with the recent interim labelling guidelines published by the Ministry for Primary Industries. Not all Manuka Honeys are UMFĀ® rated - only those which have been independently tested and verified by UMFHA are given a UMFĀ® rating.
